In space there can be no sound due to the lack of a medium, such as air. So as you increase your altitude from the earth's surface, as the air gets thinner and the pressure drops, what happens to sound? Does it get quieter, slower or does nothing change?

Why are CPUs rated in GHz when two different CPUs, both with the same quoted GHz figure, can exhibit vast differeces in performance? What causes such variances in performance and does there exist a better metric for rating CPUs?
